I miss the animation & delight in his face when telling stories and speaking of simpler times and dear friends. I miss hearing him humming & singing his happy songs, as well as hearing howdy doody' or yodel doodle' when he answered the phone. I miss him calling me his Pumpkin and grumbling at me when he thought I should do things a certain way. I miss seeing him light up when he realized I'd brought him a cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee. I miss my hero, my heart, my mentor and long to know all the many other things he could have taught me. I miss him being the very first to call to wish me a Happy Birthday every single year. I will continue to listen for his direction in every decision I make for the rest of my days. He taught me how to be strong, work hard and never, ever give up. He taught me to take people at face value & never hesitate to help others and show empathy. I hope I made him proud, because I could have never been more proud to call him my Daddy.
