Mrs Solomon will live FOREVER in my Heart. She was my Algebra Teacher and recommended me to apply for a Job at Atlantic Bank in June 1965. She believed in me, said I was one of her Best Algebra Students and felt I would be a good candidate to be the First Black Clerical DCT Student that was hired at Atlantic Bank. I retired in 2011 as Vice President in Human Resources after 46 years of service. AWESOME TEACHER, MOTIVATOR and WOMAN OF GOD! I Pray God's comfort for her FAMILY!

August 7, 2013

What fond childhood memories do I have of Mrs. Ruth C. Solomon affectionately known as "Cutie". I was one of Mrs. Solomon's sunday school students in the beginners department at West Union MBC. After much pleading and begging she let me "lip sinc" in the junior choir. I recall in my sophomore year at Ribault Senior High my math teacher, Ms. Bridgewater found out that I knew her and she somehow told her that I was failing miserably in algebra. I used to love going to prayer meetings on Tuesday nights until Mrs. Solomon got on me about my math performance. It was a horrible mistake I made to I hate math! Somebody with more experience with her should have told me to just shut your mouth and say yes ma'am. My whole sophomore year she made me sit on the last pew of the church every Tuesday night and do my homework. After service, she would check, review, and make me correct my work. She held me accountable to a standard of academic performance. She impacted my life by demonstrating CARE and CONCERN and taking ACTION for a little black girl who didn't think she could. My pay back was wrapping gifts at Christmas time to benefit the Cancer Society. She taught given back to me early.

What a wonderful gift God bless this earth realm with to allow each of us to encounter the essence of her presence and her beautiful spirit. A prolific musician, teacher, mentor, role model, but most importantly, a faithful and committed handmaiden of the Lord. Yes, we will miss her presence on this side but if we live as she lived and do the will of Him who sent us, we shall see her again. I am so confident in this, that HEAVEN is rejoicing and the ANGELS are celebrating around the throne at the return of God's BELOVED. I celebrate with you the legacy of this honorable vessel.

To Ms. White, Marcel, Ms. Thelma Howard and the entire family and host of friends that God strengthen, uphold and sustain each of you now and in the days ahead. May He minister His love and give you grace, grace, and more grace.

Ditto Gwen's remarks. Ms. Solomon, tied in first place with teachers in my life! She taught with passion, compassion, and clarity. She wanted her students to learn; imagine that, someone actually wanting students to exceed and be competitive in life!!! Giving all she had to accomplish that. I truly love Ms. Solomon!!! Ms. Solomon was the best!!! Ms. Solomon was a lady among ladies.

Farewell to a beautiful soul. Although we were never members of West Union, we were there for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Easter programs because it was close to home. We would leave there after Sunday School to go to where are parents attended church. Sister Solomon was always there to provide us with guidance and love. She helped build our Christian foundation. West Union became our second church home.

She will truly be missed by all who knew her. May the family find peace in knowing that she is resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rest on Sister Solomon and take your desired rest.

To the family of Mrs. Ruth Solomon:
I remember well Mrs. Solomon from my days at Stanton High School. She was always kind and considerate in dealing with students and parents alike. I also remember as I visited the old West Union Church on Acorn Street and seeing my Uncle Paul and Aunt Mary singing to the music that she performed for them.I used to say I wish I could play like she plays one of these days. She lived a long and a good life. May she now rest from her labor and listen to the father's voice saying, "Well done my good and faithful servant".I know that I will see her again, when the saints of God go marching in. My prayers are with all of you always.

No one, I mean NO ONE could teach Algebra like Mrs Solomon. She made it understandable, logical, and in many ways fun! Her smile was always the signal that the class was "getting" whatever she was teaching or explaining. Through her quiet and supportive approach to teaching, I came to really enjoy math. I'm glad I got to see her at one of the Stanton all class reunions when she was the guest of honor. Go with God Mrs. Solomon and soar with the angels.

August 6, 2013

Mrs. Solomon was one of those teachers you never forget. The impact she had on my life, and I'm sure many others, cannot be forgotten. Mrs. Solomon made us believe "we could be and accomplish anything in life we aspired to." May God Bless and Keep Your Family. I'm sure she is still teaching and imparting her wisdom.
