James Young Obituary

James H. Young, 81, formerly of Ottawa Hills, passed away at Parkcliffe Community on Tuesday, May 9, 2006. Jim was born in Loudonville, Ohio, on January 21, 1925, to Harold and Helen Young. He was a graduate of Miami University and an active member of the SAE Fraternity. Jim was an Air Force veteran of WWII piloting many missions. Jim resided in Toledo and worked for Champion Spark Plug as special events sales manager for 30 years. He was a dedicated handball and tennis player and was a board member of the Toledo Tennis Club for several years. He had a passion for reading and baseball, but his real joy was being with his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Jim will be missed by his devoted wife of 48 years, Joyce; daughter, Kimberly Fioretto, Nancy Young-Wood (Tom), Sharon Abendroth (Paul); sister, Sara Lou Young and grandchildren, Michael Fioretto and Brent, Lauren and Matthew Abendroth.
Family and friends may visit at the J. Jeffrey Fretti Funeral Home, 5045 W. Sylvania Ave. (at Corey Rd.) 419-843-1117, from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 (Today). A private burial will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association, The Friends of Toledo Public Library or Parkcliffe Community. The family is very appreciative of the love and excellent care Jim received from the Parkcliffe Community staff. They would also like to thank Heartland Hospice of Ohio for making Jim's final days ones of peace and comfort.
