Jerzy Wiercinski Obituary
Jerzy J. "Honey Bunny" Wiercinski, age 82, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Genesis of Sylvania surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Poland on July 22, 1935 to Anthony and Rozalia (Wojcechoska) Wiercinski. Jerzy began his employment career in England, constructing electrical towers for Belford Breedy. After moving to the U.S. he was a Senior Lineman with Toledo Edison for 35 years, then a driver for Toledo Molding & Die for 5 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the IBEW Local 245. A longtime parishioner of St. Clement Catholic Church, Jerzy was a devout Christian man. He frequently made pilgrimages to the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Carey, Ohio. He loved to travel, and visit family members in England, South Carolina, South Dakota, New Jersey, Florida, New Mexico, Illinois, and Alaska. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he cherished time with family and friends.
Jerzy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann (Beczynski) Wiercinski (married on June 25, 1960); daughters, Monica (Richard Marshall) Wiercinski and Angela (Stephen) Sample; sons, Raymond John (Emma), Robert James (Katie), and Matthew Joseph (Katrina) Wiercinski; 13 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eddie; and sisters, Alfreda Dzioba and Catherine Wiercinski.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Rosary at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Clement Catholic Church, preceded by visitation in the church from 10 - 11 a.m.
