JOHNSTONE
Josephine Marie
Perkins
Josephine Marie Perkins Johnstone passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 21, 2015. She was born to Mae V. (Henry) and Ernest C. Perkins on October 7, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio, where she spent her entire life.
She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, and the University of Toledo. She married William S. Johnstone on August 17, 1946, and they were married for 43 years until his death in 1989. They raised five children together. They enjoyed dancing, many trips and cruises, and in Bill's “jeepster” and involvement in the Zenobia Shrine, attended many parades all over the United States. She was the best mother anyone could ever be.
A few years after William's death, she met Thomas C. McLean and began a loving 25- year relationship. Together they traveled to six of the seven continents, while making frequent visits to China, London and Paris.
Josie was known for her beauty and sparkling personality. Everyone who met her loved her. She had a keen and devilish sense of humor, and loved to have fun, making everything adventurous. She loved her grandchildren so very much, every year she would take them all to Cedar Point, staying for a two or three day trip, and go on all the rides with them.
She will be greatly missed.
Josie was predeceased by her husband, William; her parents; and her brothers, Jim and Jack Perkins.
She is survived by her sons, William (Carol), Fort Myers, Florida, Thomas (Christina), Maumee, and John (Karin), Perrysburg, Ohio; daughters, Stephanie (Kent Reecer), Perrysburg, Ohio and Christine Johnstone, M.D., Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Sharon Erel, M.D., Istanbul, Turkey; and her loving companion, Tom McLean.
