What an honor to have recently met Michael and his sweet wife Beth. Immediately, we knew they were humble, faith- filled people who loved their Lord. They witnessed to us of Gods power in their lives and we were encouraged. I recall Michael and his Miata and how instrumental he was in providing my husband with his own dream car. Michael was genuine with a generous smile that melted hearts. I'm sure both Michael and Jim are now enjoying heaven and the presence of their heavenly father with more Miata time together than ever imagined.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Meeting Mike in Yellowstone in the summer of 1976 literally changed the trajectory of my life. Working on the Christian Ministry in the National Parks team together at Yellowstone Lake was what eventually led to my move to Ohio. That led to meeting my wife, Mary Kate, getting my teaching job that was my career, having my family in Ohio... None of that would have happened without the relationship we built working that summer in Yellowstone, hiking in the Tetons, camping in the back country with the bears and mosquitos. Mike's impact on my life is something I will always treasure. My condolences and prayers go out to the Manahan family during this time of grieving.

The life that Michael lived here was only a small part of the eternal plan which I am sure he will live just as selflessly as he did on earth. We met very early in our Christian walks, and he had a smile that would not quit. Blessings to his family and friends.

I moved to Defiance the summer of 1973 before my senior year in high school, and didn't know a soul in town. Mike was one of the first people I met (at St. Paul's United Methodist). His friendship helped turn what could have been a lonely final year of school into one I will always remember fondly. I greatly enjoyed our discussions as we carpooled back and forth to BGSU our freshman year. What a class act!

Mike reached out to me when I first arrived in Bowling Green. His friendship and sacrificial love and service to me, my family, and everyone around him demonstrated the love of God was a very present reality in his life.
Until we meet again my precious brother.

The world certainly lost a good man and heaven gained an amazing angel. I met Mike in Jr. High. I don't remember ever seeing him without a smile! He was actually my freshman homecoming date and I remember the big mum with the blue "D" he gave me☺. I am pretty sure his picture is in the dictionary next to the word gentleman. Every class reunion he was so happy to see classmates and catch up. I will miss seeing him next year. My sincere sympathy to Mike's family. It was always obvious you were his world. Rest in peace my dear friend, you will be missed. Sincerely, Kathy Bidlack Ripke

Michaels humble faith-filled witness to Our Lord was a example for all of us at St. Thomas More. He and Beth were a perfect team for the R.C.I.A. program and joyfully led so many into the Catholic faith. He will be greatly missed! Our sincere condolences and continued prayers for Mike, Beth, and their family.

From the time I met Mike in 1980's he showed what it was to be a man of Integrity. He loved his family, the body of Christ and all those who he dealt with. He truly showed forth the Love of Jesus in all that he did. The times he and Beth opened up their house or the cabin for skiing were tremendous opportunities for growth for those he encouraged. You will be missed but we will meet again in the presences of the God our Father.

Mike was my irreplaceable best friend. A man that stayed with me through everything for over 39 years. From the day we met, we knew we would be best of friends. Mike was a man of selfless character; always thinking of others and truly lived out the love of Christ with his words and actions. Time and space prevent me from listing all the selfless acts he did. Even in his illness, he thought of others. He endlessly loved his Lord, his wife and children. Those who knew him well did well to emulate him. For the past 12 years we met every Saturday to share life, share our joys and heartaches. The earth became a less pleasant place after last Saturday at 5:22 PM, heaven became exceedingly better.

I knew mike as a child. We became friends when his family moved to the neighborhood on Jefferson Street. We shared a lot of good times and I'll always have the memories of those years. He was a good guy and someone you could always, always, count on. His family was very good to me. God Bless them!! And God Bless you Michael!!
