Michael Reed Obituary

REED Michael David, Sr. Michael David Reed Sr. of Sylvania, OH, died Monday, July 30, 2007, in the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI, at age of 61. After a lengthy battle with cancer, he passed surrounded by his family. Born on Thanksgiving Day, November, 22, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of James E. Sr. and Margaret Jane O'Connell Reed, he was a graduate of the Josephinum High School of the Pontifical College, Columbus, OH and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following the service he worked for National Cash Register and Toledo Edison while attending night school at the University of Toledo. He completed his law degree in 1978 and began a private practice in 1982. He was a parishioner of Little Flower Church and enjoyed playing golf in his leisure time. Joanne R. (Kaczala) Reed and Mike celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary April 29th of this year. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Reed, Sr. Surviving are his wife, Joanne R. Reed; children, Michelle Reed, Michael D. (Anne) Reed Jr., all of Sylvania, OH, Amanda C. (Greg) Hubay of Sagamore Hills, OH; mother, Margaret J. Reed of Spring Hill, FL; brothers, James E. Reed Jr. of Grand Junction, CO, Richard O. (Carol) Reed; sister, Catherine (Bruce, Sr.) Raber, all residents of Florida; granddaughters, Abigail and Sophia Reed; sisters-in-law, Caroline (Geoffrey Wilson) Kaczala of Shaker Heights, OH, and Margaret (Peter Casesar) Kaczala of Newburyport, MA and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 3, 2007 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Little Flower Church, 5522 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH, with celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Memorial tributes suggested in the form of contributions to the Pontifical College of Josephinum of Columbus, OH. Floral tributes can be made in care of the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, (419-531-4424) who is assisting with arrangements.
