Robert Dennison Obituary

DENNISON

Robert

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, we celebrate the rebirth of Robert Dennison on December 24, 2012, into his heavenly home. Surrounded by his loving family, he died at Regency Hospital from complications of pneumonia and COPD. He was born on August 12, 1923, in Paradise, PA and graduated from Paradise High School in 1941. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the navy and served aboard the mine sweeper USS Inflict. While aboard, he saw action in Okinawa, Pearl Harbor and Guam.

Bob started his own company, Denbro Plastics. After a number of years, it was totally destroyed by fire and he was stricken with cancer. Like the Phoenix, he recovered from both and rebuilt the company.

As a member of the Zenobia Jeepsters, he enjoyed traveling through many states and working with disabled children at the Shrine Circus. He was past Director and President of the Jeepsters Unit, Ambassador to the Northwest Ohio Region of the Shrine, Aide to the Zenobia Potentate, a 50 year member of the Samaria Lodge and a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Temperance.

Due to complications from surgery, Bob could not eat or drink orally for the last six years. He showed great strength of character in not complaining. His determination to overcome his physical disability was both an inspiration to others and a personal challenge which he faced with courage. Bob was a very loving, sensitive man and enjoyed his 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He looked forward to their visits and always had lots of hugs and kisses for them. Even though he also had a hard time communicating, his eyes and smile expressed the love and joy he had for those around him.

He will be greatly and sadly missed by his loving wife of 70 years, Joyce; children, Joy (Jeff) Cohen, Ron (Joan), Alynda (Bob) Galdeen, Rick (Deb) and the rest of his family.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Church in Temperance, MI Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with luncheon to follow.
