Thomas Szmania Obituary
Thomas Joseph Szmania, age 81, of West Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Harry and Christine (Czerniak) Szmania and attended St. Hedwig Catholic Grade School and Macomber High School. Tom was a Master Carpenter working for several companies in the greater Toledo area. After retiring, Tom worked as a handy man at Lourdes College for many years. He was an avid Ohio State fan and was a longtime active member and volunteer at The Most Blessed Sacrament Parish.
In 1963 he married Linda Henly, and she preceded him in death in August of 2013. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Rutkowski.
Surviving are his daughters, Cathy (Paul) Kamenca and Amy Szmania; grandsons, Alex and Zachary; sister, Roseann (Bernie) Hudzinski; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 North Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH 43615, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in The Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where guests are invited beginning at 10:30 a.m. that morning. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Toledo Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice.

Tom was my mother´s next door neighbor. They kept an eye out for each other. And I know Tom raised great children because I went to school with Cathy a long time ago. My mom prays a great novena, so Tom is in good hands.
