Edward Edenfield Obituary

Edward James Edenfield III TAMPA, FL On Tuesday, July 23, 2019, Ed passed away peacefully in Tampa, FL. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and uncle. Ed, "J.R." as he was affectionately known to family, was born in Uniontown, PA to Edward James Edenfield Jr. and Freda Beatrice (Ditmore) Edenfield. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol B. Edenfield; three children, Edward James "Jay" Edenfield IV (Chris) of Tampa, FL, J. Mark Edenfield (Karen) of Austin, TX and Shaun Atwood Edenfield (Lisa) of Souderton, PA; Leona Corl Edenfield, mother of his three children; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step-children and six step-grandchildren. He is also survived by four siblings, Janice R. Edenfield Smitley (Robert) of Atlanta, GA, R. Jill Edenfield of Norwalk, CA, Guy Edenfield (Linda) of East Windsor, NJ and Galen Lee Edenfield of Uniontown, PA; as will as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his sister, Opal Pearl Edenfield Rodgers, and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Driver Edenfield. Ed's career spanned 24 years at Princeton University, culminating in his position as senior assistant dean of the Graduate School. He also held positions as executive director of the NJ Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association and Impact Exhibits International prior to his retirement. Nature was one of Ed's first loves. He spent many summers hiking the peaks of the Adirondacks with his three sons. After retirement, Ed and his wife moved to Albuquerque, NM. He was also a devoted man of faith. While living in NM, Ed and Carol volunteered with Threshold, a prison ministry dedicated to mentoring inmates to help them successfully transition from prison back to their families and communities. He was also a devoted follower of Princeton University and Pittsburgh sports. Those who knew Ed will always remember him for his love of life, his kind and generous spirit and his signature salutation…"Greetings!" A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, at Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau St., Princeton, NJ 08542. Memorial gifts in honor of Ed may be made to the Juniata Scholarship Fund, 1700 Moore St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.

I am very sorry to hear this news. Mr. Edenfield and his family were part of my growing up years. I have many fond memories of him, Leona, and the boys. And that great house. My deepest and sincere condolences to all his family.

It's been a number of years since i have seen him but i remember playing with his boys as a child and how nice he and his family was . RIP Thoughts and prayers
