Irene Uhren Obituary

Irene C. Uhren of Duquesne died suddenly Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in UPMC McKeesport. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Hrico Guba and wife of her late beloved husband of 55 years Nicholas S. Uhren. Irene retired in 1999 after 20 years of service at the University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences. She was also a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne. Irene loved to read and play cards. She loved visiting with family and friends at her summer cottage where the deck of cards would mysteriously appear in the evening and entertain those present into the night. In her words, ?The game was a lesson of life.? Her devotion, protection and love of family could only be rivaled by ?Urus horribilis.? She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched and her memory eternal. Loving mother of Michael J. (Leslie) Uhren of Perryopolis and Kathryn M. Sadecky (John Shipe) of West Mifflin; grandmother of Nicholas S. Sadecky, Nicholas K. Uhren, Skylar B. Uhren, Christopher M. Uhren and Alexander M. Uhren; and great-grandmother of Nicholas R. Uhren. She was preceded in death by her youngest son Nicholas P. Uhren; sister Mary; and brother Albert. Friends and family will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. Parastas Services will be offered Sunday at 3:30 in the memorial home. A blessing service will be offered in the memorial home Monday, March 14, 2011, at 9:15 a.m. followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in SS. Peter and Paul Church with the Rev. David Bosnich as celebrant. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
