Leonard Stivason Obituary

Leonard H. Stivason West Leechburg Leonard H. Stivason, 69, of West Leechburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at UPMC Presbyterian., Pittsburgh. He was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Gilpin Township, a son of the late Oscar F. "Todd" Stivason and Mildred L. (Walters) Stivason. He was a truck driver for the United Parcel Service for 30 years, retiring in 2008. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and attended the Harvest Baptist Church in Natrona Heights. A 1962 graduate of Leechburg High School, Mr. Stivason enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, was a great NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed being with his grandson. He was the loving husband for 50 years of Carol A. (Altemus) Stivason; loving and gentle father of Tracie E. Stivason, of Verona, Amy M. Stivason, of West Leechburg, and the late Diane Michelle Stivason; loving grandfather of Zander A. Stivason; and brother of Frank J. (Joan) Stivason, of Tampa, Fla., and the late Frederick D. Stivason and Rayburn R. Stivason. Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in CLAWSONS, 170 Main St., Leechburg, 724-842-1051, and from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of his funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. in Harvest Baptist Church, 224 Harvest Lane, Natrona Heights. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Kurt Skelly. Interment with full military honors presented by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Veterans Section in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
