Harry Gruener Obituary

Harry H. Gruener, 86, of West View, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at UPMC Passavant. Husband of Shirley Gruener; father of Harry J. Gruener (Christine); grandfather of Gretchen Busquets (Miguel) and Rachel Kress (Paul); great-grandfather of Marisa and Talia Busquets, Catie and Jackson Kress; brother of Robert Gruener. Harry served on the board of directors of West View Water Authority for more than 30 years and currently was its chairman. He was a former West View Borough councilman and West View Borough manager. He was a World War II Air Force B-24 pilot, flying 27 missions and was shot down twice. He earned the distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with Three Clusters. He was a member of VFW Post 2754 and member of the Board of Trustees of MRM Property and Casualty Insurance Trust. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. Services at 11 a.m. Friday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 920 Perry Highway. Everyone meet at the church.
