Edward J. Hutter

1943 - 2016

Edward Joseph Hutter, 73, of Pleasant Unity, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1943, in Greensburg, a son of the late Edison J. and Betty I. (Minerd) Hutter. "Red Ball," as he was known to many, owned and operated the E.J. Hutter Garage in Pleasant Unity and was a graduate of Hurst High School. He was a life member of Pleasant Unity Volunteer Fire Department, where he held a number of positions over the years, including trustee, captain and president. Eddie Joe was also a member of the Westmoreland County, Western Pennsylvania and State of Pennsylvania firemen's associations. He is survived by his wife, Janet L. (Shine) Hutter, with whom he celebrated their 50th anniversary this year; two daughters, Lisa Phillips and husband Randy, of Latrobe, and Amy Liberoni and husband John, of Norvelt; four grandchildren, Megan and Lauren Liberoni and Joseph and Robert Phillips; two brothers, Timothy A. Hutter and wife Phyllis, of Latrobe, and David A. Hutter and wife Chris, of Salem, Ohio; his sister, Deborah Hutter, of Pleasant Unity; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Nancy Mears officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. Members of Pleasant Unity VFD will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
