George Clendenning Obituary

George A. Clendenning, 64, of Smithton, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, in Frick Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Born Aug. 16, 1941, in New Castle, he was a son of the late John and Della (Bell) Clendenning. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Frabizio) Clendenning; three daughters, Rene Morrison (Gregory), of Youngwood, Darcy Swiantek (Clem), of West Newton, and Sara Fenton, of Smithton; grandchildren, Anthony, Bryan and Amanda Morrison, and Alexandra Swiantek; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Roshon Miller. He was a retired truck driver for Super Valu Grocery Distributors, New Stanton. He was a member of A.R.C. of Mon Valley and was a Special Olympics volunteer. Along with his love of family, George enjoyed auto racing, he was an avid stock car driver and also raced at many of the local dirt tracks and enjoyed much success. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the RALPH L. JOHNSON FUNERAL HOME, 3411 Wood St., Buena Vista. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. James Myers officiating. Interment in West Newton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the A.R.C. of Mon Valley.
