George Starkey Obituary
Born June 12, 1945 in Rowan County, NC he was the son of the late Mary Stiller Starkey.
Frank was a graduate of Boyden High School, class of 1964. He was a proud veteran, serving in the US Army from 1966-1968. He worked for Norfolk Southern as a brakeman and conductor for 32 years until retirement. He was a member of Spencer Moose Lodge, Harold B. Jarrett Legion Post #342, AmVets Post #13, and Hudson, Miller, Tatum VFW Post 3006. Frank enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and watching baseball. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his grandson, Eli.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lewis Starkey; grandparents, George A. Stiller and Lottie Stiller.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Bradley Starkey and Brian Starkey (Anna); grandson, Elijah Starkey.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Monday, January 27, 2025 at Summersett Funeral Home.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2PM, Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Rowan Memorial Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

To the family, I was a nurse who cared for Ms Judy in the home and I saw how much Mr George loved and doted on her. They were so in love and I could feel it every time I walked in the house. He was kind and always made sure I made it up and down the driveway. He was a good man and a wonderful husband. I hope you have comfort knowing they're together again.
