Kathy Garofalo Obituary

Kathy (Marchand) Garofalo, 55, of Brownsville, died Friday, June 6, 2003, in her home. She was born Nov. 24, 1947, in Brownsville, the daughter of Lewis "Rip" and Ethel Rogers Marchand of Newell. She was a member of the Newell United Methodist Church. She was co-owner of A Beautiful Thought Flowers and Gifts in Brownsville, and had been a licensed registered nurse for the past 35 years. She had obtained her diploma from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing and a B.S. degree in nursing from California University of Pennsylvania. She worked for 23 years at Brownsville General Hospital, and for the past 12 years had held the position of infection control and employee health nurse for Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice. She was a certified infection control practitioner and longstanding member of the national organization A.P.I.C. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her business partner and very close friend, Sally Stitt; two brothers, Dennis Marchand and wife, Alberta, of Washington, Pa., and David Marchand and wife, Jean, of Winchester, Va.; a nephew, Lewis D. Marchand and wife, Marci; four nieces, Lori Wagner and husband, Jerry, Rebecca, Sarah and Melissa Marchand; and numerous close cousins. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, with the Rev. James Pond officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice, 20 Highland Park Drive, Uniontown, PA 15401.
