Lloyd Hood Obituary

Lloyd ``Deacon' Hood, 85, of Ligonier, formerly of Stahlstown, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at his residence. He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Stahlstown, a son of the late Sank W. and Amy Snyder Hood. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Stahlstown. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a machinist for Standard Steel Co., Latrobe, and was also a farmer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Burns; and a grandson, Dale Stouffer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hilda Haering Hood; four children, Irma and her husband, Glenn Hutchinson, of Sarasota, Fla., Patricia and her husband, Rich Shockey, of Greenfield, Ohio, James Hood of Bellevue and Pamela and her husband, Gerald Stewart, of Irving, Texas; five grandchildren, Wendy Stowell, Kenneth Stouffer, Madysen, Bailee and Kennedy Stewart; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Wyatt Stouffer; and a sister, Edna Schultz of Stahlstown. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Stahlstown, with the Rev. Audrey J. Bell officiating. Burial will be private. Immediately following the memorial service, the family will gather at the Cook Township Community Center, Stahlstown, for a time of visitation and breaking of bread with friends and neighbors. The family suggests memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Trinity U.M. Church, Stahlstown, PA 15687 or the hospice program of Latrobe Area Hospital, 121 W.
