Lois R. Riggle

1954 - 2024

Lois R. Riggle, 69, of South Buffalo Township, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Lois was born April 16, 1954, in Natrona Heights. She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Slair) and Frank M. Girdwood. She met the love of her life, Marc, on April Fool's Day when she was 16, and he has made her laugh every day since. She was a 1972 graduate of Deer Lakes High School. After graduation, she enrolled at the Allegheny Valley School of Nursing. She was employed as a paramedic for 15 years with EMS companies in the Valley. Lois enjoyed going to all her kids' sporting events, making beautiful creations with her beading and caring for her many animals over the years. She loved spending time with her family, especially vacationing with them in Ocean City, N.J. Her grandchildren were everything to her; she would often be found on the sidelines or in the audience for their many activities. Lois is survived by her husband of 50 years, R. Marc Riggle; and her three sons, Jason and Tracy Riggle, of Ephrata, Joshua and Sarah Riggle, of Johnstown, and Jeremy and Carly Riggle, of Sarver. Also surviving are her grandbabies, Alyson, Owen, Riley, Alexa, Aiden, Evan, Kolbi, Abigail, Oliver and Ellie. Lois is also survived by her three siblings, Janet and Dr. John Morphy, Beth Ann and Jack Dunlap, and the Rev. Donald W. Girdwood. She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, her sister-in law, Sue, and her fur baby, Roxy. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly; her infant brother, David; her brother, the Rev. Frank E. Girdwood; and her sister-in law, Lynn. At the family's request, there will be no public visitation and a private family burial will be held at Deer Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.
