Richard B. Kochanski

1930 - 2016

Richard B. Kochanski, 86, of Lower Burrell, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, in UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh. He was born Jan. 15, 1930, in New Kensington, to the late Antoni and Anna Rumian Kochanski, and has been a lifelong resident of the local area. Mr. Kochanski was Navy veteran and a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, where he served as an usher for 20 years. He was a 1948 graduate of New Kensington High School and received a bachelor's degree in 1952 and a master's degree in 1954, both from Duquesne University. He worked as the Planning and Financial Control Department head for PPG, Harmarville, enjoyed golfing, current events and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially the Steelers and Pirates. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce B. Edgar Kochanski; two sons, Chuck (Kara) Kochanski, of Powell, Ohio, and Brian (Terra) Kochanski, of North Huntingdon; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Mia and Raegan Kochanski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Walter, Louis and Bruno Kochanski.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Road at Alder Street, where Prayers of Transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Parish wake services will be said at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
