Thomas Mawhinney Obituary

Thomas E. Mawhinney Sr., 59, of Middlesex Township died Monday afternoon (Jan. 7, 2002) in UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh, after an illness.

He was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Oil City. A veteran, he served with the Navy. Mr. Mawhinney was a delivery driver for the United Postal Service, Aliquippa. He was a member of Clinton Presbyterian Church, American Legion in Butler, and Loyal Order of the Moose, Harmony. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn "Katie" Jones Mawhinney; two sons, Thomas E. Mawhinney Jr. of Portersville and Joseph W. Mawhinney of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Tracey) Goupil of Butler; six grandchildren; two brothers, James Mawhinney of Lakeland, Fla., and Robert Mawhinney of Edgewater, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. James (Nancy) McKrell of West Deer and Mrs. Robert (Janet) Ludwick of Inman, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mawhinney and Dorothy Ley Mawhinney Fuls. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. John Calihan. Burial will be in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Clinton Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
