BEVERLY BOST Obituary

Beverly Renee Bost (Questad) 2/20/1938 - 5/23/2010 Beverly was born to Henry C. and Ferne A. Questad in Pierre, South Dakota. The family moved to Livingston, Montana, where she graduated Salutatorian from Park County High School in June 1956. Beverly was active in her church ministry, playing both piano and organ. She also knew how to have fun with her classmates on trail rides and with rodeo activities. She helped with the family business, which published The Gateway Echo newspaper. Beverly attended the University of Montana, graduating with a BA in Education in 1960. She taught primary school in Spokane, Washington for two years, and then accepted President Kennedy's challenge and joined Peace Corps training at The University of Washington. Beverly was a member of the first all-college graduate class and taught English as a Foreign Language in Thailand near the Isthmus of Kra. Those experiences in the Peace Corps helped form the direction she would take for the rest of her life: a life of service and an enjoyment of travel. Completing her two-year Peace Corps commitment, Beverly returned to Montana to teach another 14 years at Great Falls High School. As a Guardian ad Litem, Beverly took on the court-appointed responsibilities for three foster children. She was a Master Gardener. Opportunities to travel abroad, to share her love of music, and to play a stealthy game of duplicate bridge marked her as an active member of her community wherever her husband's work moved them. Beverly is survived by her husband Frank Bost of Sumner, Washington and her brother Larry Questad of Boise, Idaho. At her direction, no memorial service is scheduled at this time. To Bev's family, she was a dental patient in the pratice I work for, I loved the days she had appts. She really made my day, loved talking with her and hearing her words of encouragement after I had a heart attack. I would run into her at the hospital, when doing cardio rehab! , and we would walk and talk. I just want you to know the joy she brought me as our paths in life crossed. Hope they cross again someday! Elizabeth Houston-Johnston(Sumner,Wa.)

Dear Frank,
Bev and I had many a spirited discussion over the bridge table and how I should have responded to her opener! I was so saddened to hear of her passing, but as others have said, she is at peace now. Bev was a dear friend and will be sorely missed by our bridge group. She often made us all laugh long and hard about some past anecdote around the game. I hope you will stay in touch with our bridge group when you can.

Sympathy in the loss of out classmate, our class was small and consequently we knew each other. We graduated on May 25, 1956, how quickly the years pass. God's blessing to all of you. Deanna Ebert Egeland

To the family and friends of Beverly. Shortly after my arrival in Thailand in 1963, one of the first trips I made was to visit Bev in Prajuab Kirikan province, many hours south of my own assignment. Bev was a wonderful host and we had a great visit. In the way life goes, I rarely got to see her after that visit. I extend to you my greatest sympathy for your loss. Bev remains always a part of Peace Corps Thailand III. Vickie Jarvis

Frank, Larry and extended family:

Please accept my deepest sympathies in the loss of your wife, sister and aunt.

Although I never met Bev in person, I had the pleasure of meeting her via the telephone and via email. Bev was one of the cousins of my extended family that I wish I had had the privilege of meeting. What little contact we had, I came to realize what a kind and generous heart Bev had.

Rest in peace dear Cousin! We will meet in Heaven one day!

She was my 11th grade American History teacher 1969 in Great Falls, Montana. She has a great reputation as a tough teacher, but she was excellent teaching critical thinking and how to learn rather than just "facts".

I've had three great teachers and she was one of them. She managed to have me consider to something a bit beyond where I was heading and somehow I ended up with a PhD in particle physics.

I lost track of her and have always wanted to thank her for those gifts of critical thinking and curiosity. Today a friend sent the sad news. Those of you who were close to her have lost a great person.

I will always remember wonderful dinners and a kind smile. We miss you Bev.

Beverly taught me one of the most important “life lessons” I have ever known. My remarkable success and recognized abilities in technical writing, which have set me apart from others in my industry, are largely due to her influence. A simple exercise put forth in a challenging fashion, helped to shape my career and my life. Her lesson was not forgotten, neither will she be. Timothy M Bost
