Tom Russell Obituary
April 21, 1933 - July 26, 2023
Puyallup, Washington - Thomas Joseph Russell, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 26,2023 in Puyallup, WA. Tom was born on April 21, 1933 in Tacoma, WA to Ethel Russell (Cecil) and Tom Rooney (Evelyn). He is survived by his son Paul Russell (Alyse) and daughter Nancy Randall (Tony) along with siblings Patti Conine (Jerry), Miki Welfringer (Brian) and Tim Rooney (Barb). He is also survived by his five grandchildren – Joey, Lindsay, Sarah (Caleb), Abbey and Dylan. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Lorna Kelly. Tom grew up and attended school in the greater Tacoma area. After high school, he attended PLU for 2 years before joining the United States Air Force. After the Air Force, he returned home to complete his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. In 1961, he began his 37-year career with The Boeing Company. His first project with Boeing took him to La Macaza, Quebec where he met his wife, Lorna Kelly. His career with Boeing provided them the opportunity to live in various locations including Montana, California, and Pennsylvania. In 1979, he returned with his family to Puyallup to stay. Tom was an avid collector of books and antiques spending many hours in search of his next treasure. His strong and steady presence will be missed greatly.
Tom and Lorna will be interred together at Tahoma National Cemetery following a military service for Tom on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 9:30am.

Paul and Alyse, I am sorry for your loss. Both your parents lived with such dignity- the kind that welcomes a hearty laugh, and provides an example and the encouragement to really live.
Their security was in the Lord and so is yours. You are both already participants in that integrity. May God bless Your hearts and refresh your souls.
