Marie R. Denchel, age 90 of Prosser, entered into rest on October 28, 2007, at Prosser Memorial Long Term Care.
Marie was born in Ellensburg, Washington, to William Price Ballard and Jessie Maud (Haun) Ballard.
She was raised and educated in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935 and after high school, worked in a beauty shop and bakery.
Marie married Hilmar Denchel in 1937 in Seattle where they spent in their early years. They later lived in California and Arizona before moving to Pasco in 1950.
They made their home in Prosser in 1968 and were partners in Denchel's Buick and Datsun until retiring in 1984.
Marie was a member of Prosser First Presbyterian Church and an active supporter of Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle.
She was a bridge life master and enjoyed traveling and spending time at the ocean and clamming with her brothers and sisters. She and Hil also thoroughly enjoyed spending every winter at Desert Hot Springs visiting with friends from Canada and golfing.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Denchel and his wife, Linda of Prosser, Dan Denchel and his wife, Michelle of Grandview, Don Denchel and his wife, Marlene and David Denchel and his wife, Linda all of Kennewick; nine grandchildren, 10.5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hil Denchel in 1992; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, at 2 p.m. at the Prosser First Presbyterian Church.
Private family graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from noon until 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon at Prosser Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Children's Orthopedic Hospital c/o Prosser Funeral Home.
