MARY PHYLLIS LANG
A graveside service will be held for Mary Phyllis Lang on Monday, October 6. at 2:00 p.m. at Normal Hills Cemetery, Lewiston, ID.
She passed away peacefully Wednesday evening October 1, 2003, surrounded by family at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Myra Lang in Kennewick, WA.
She was a longtime resident of Lewiston.
Mary Phyllis Knight was born at Harrisburg, ID, on January 4, 1918, the 10th of 12 children to Edward Warren and Jennie (Simmerman) Knight. She was raised on the family ranch at Woodland, ID, and developed a strong work ethic, which served her throughout her life.
She was educated in Woodland and Kamiah, ID, and graduated high school in Custer, SD.
She was trained as a beautician and owned and operated several shops in Lewiston, ID, as well as being an accomplished cook, gardener and seamstress.
She married Robert Francis Weyen on July 12, 1940, in Baker, OR. Together, they had two children, Daryl Paul Weyen of Boise, ID, and Carolyn Frances Weyen Smith Reynolds of Acampo, CA. They divorced in 1953.
In 1955, she married Calvin William Lang. Together, they had one child, Gregory Todd Lang of Kennewick, WA. They divorced in 1962.
Survivors include her brother, Lyle Knight of Kamiah, ID and numerous nieces, nephews. She is also survived by children, Greg Lang (Myra), Carolyn Reynolds (Robert) and Daryl Weyen.
Her grandchildren are Lisa Smith Hawkins (Ross), Waterford, CA, Daryl Smith (Lori), Lockeford, CA, Molly Weyen MCcConkey (Fred), Bellevue, WA, Paula Weyen Gellner (Jeff) Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kaylee Lang of Kennewick, WA. Her great-grandchildren are Rex, Wade and and Reid Hawkins of Waterford, CA, Nicole Smith, Lockeford, CA, and Eleanor McConkey, Bellevue, WA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Warren Knight; her mother, Jennie (Simmerman) Knight, and stepmother, Blanche (Day) Knight; siblings, Galeon E. Knight, Harry V. Knight, Georgia M. Hawkins, Clara 'Mae' Kane, Adella L. Edwards, Bertha L. Marek, Ethna D. Mendenhall, Gladys A. Rosse, Floyd A. Knight and Lester 'Raymond' Knight.
The family thanks her many friends at Crafton Apartments in Lewiston, ID, and the caregivers at Chaplaincy Hospice of Kennewick, WA.
A special thank you to daughter-in-law, Myra Lang, sister-in-law, Louise Knight and niece, Juanita Knight Heaton of Spokane, WA for their loving and unselfish care. The family suggests any donations be sent to the local chapter of Hospice.
