Terrence Yearout Obituary

Terrence Yearout

August 11, 1928 - September 14, 2023

Kennewick, Washington - Terrence (Terry) Kelly Yearout passed away at the age of 95 on September 14, 2023 at 10:40am, at Kadlec Hospital. He was surrounded by his son, Kelly Yearout and his daughter, Valerie Kirk.

Terry was born August 11, 1928 to Peter and Maxine (McCachren) Yearout. Terry moved often during his childhood, living in Washington and Idaho. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1946. He was an athlete during his high school years, playing football, basketball, and baseball. During one summer of his high school years, Terry served with the Forest Service, along with his two brothers, Robin (Bob) Yearout and Michael (Mike) Yearout. Terry always enjoyed being out in nature and was known for telling those with him all about the trees and plants in the area.

Terry met Shannon Whaley in early 1958 and the two were married on July 3, 1958, joining their families together and having two more children together. Terry and Shannon moved to Kennewick, WA in 1969.

Terry was well known in the construction industry in the Tri-Cities. He worked for George Grant Construction until his retirement in 1995. His work in construction took him all over the State of Washington and included projects on the Columbia Canal, Easton Lake fish ladders, Columbia Center Mall (to name a few). Terry was known for his dedication, loyalty and being trustworthy to get a job done quickly and done correctly. After retiring, Terry was a volunteer at Liberty Christian School, overseeing the construction of their facility.

In 1971, Terry began attending the Christian Reformed Church in Kennewick, WA. He quickly became a staple figure in the church, helping with building maintenance and grounds keeping. He continued this role at Grace United Reformed Church until 2019, along with his position as a deacon in the church. Terry was known for his giving heart and desire to help others in need. Every winter for many years, Terry would purchase toys and children's clothing to donate to Union Gospel Mission. He would head up food drives and toy drives at his church to help those in need. He was always willing to help anyone in need, whether it be fixing sprinklers or helping with remodel work.

One of Terry's favorite past times was working in his yard. If he wasn't out helping someone or having lunch with his friends, you would find him in his yard doing something. In his later years, Terry also began painting and drawing to pass the time during winter months.

Terry is survived by his sons Randall Yearout (Holly), Rick Yearout (Ruth), Kelly Yearout (Teresa) and his daughter, Valerie Kirk (Justin), several grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers Robin Yearout (Marty), Michael Yearout, and David McCachren.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Sally and Marilee, his brother John, his wife Shannon, his daughter Linda Brobst and her husband, Robert, his son Terrence T Yearout (Nancy), and his son Jeffrey Grow.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 14, 2023 at 12:00pm at Grace United Reformed Church, located at 2500 W 4th Ave, Kennewick, WA. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Great Grandpa was a joy to know for James and Julianna. He had a giving heart and leaves a legacy of a dedicated family of which I´m lucky to be a part. We look forward to celebrating his life together and celebrate that he is with the Lord.
