John J. McLaughlin Jr.

MCLAUGHLIN JR., JOHN DEFREESTVILLE - John J. "Jack" McLaughlin, Jr. of North Greenbush Road in Defreestville, NY passed away on Wednesday Oct. 19, 2011 at his residence after a long illness. He was 76. Born in Manhattan on June 9, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Owens) McLaughlin. Jack attended Christopher Columbus High School, Bronx N.Y. in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army, from May 23, 1956 to April 30, 1962. He was assigned to the Signal Corps as a power equipment maintenance operator. Jack worked and retired from Friehofer's Baking Co. in June 1997. Jack was an avid lover of animals and pigeons. He loved hunting and fishing in the Great Outdoors, and he had a special love for his dog Russy. Beloved husband of the late Florence Johnston McLaughlin. Jack is survived by his current wife Patricia Grant McLaughlin. He is survived by his children, John (Debra) McLaughlin, Donna (John) Bergeron, Karen McLaughlin, Claire (Brian) Carbonneau, Eileen (Edward) Moss and Lisa (Ginny) Murray. Stepfather of Michelle (Michael) Ball, Suzanne (John) Gavin and the late Gregory Arnold. Jack is survived by his loving grandchildren Rebecca, Heather, Jason, Helena, Morgan, Colleen, Erica, Janeylee, Kayla, Mallory, Madison, Nicole, Michelle, Mark, Melissa, Edward, Jr., Jillian, Gregory, Jr., and Amy. Brother of Patricia (John) Tomchik and Marie (late John) Risko. Cousin of Frances (Bruce) Fairweather, Henry (Dolores) Bruns and the late Marie D'Amico. Also survived by nine great grandchildren and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday Oct. 22, 2011 at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Nassau, NY where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Friday Oct. 21 from 4-8 PM. Burial and military honors will be bestowed at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rte. 203, Nassau, NY.
