Dr. Arthur Paul Alberding Jr.

Dr. Arthur Paul Alberding, Jr. 8/18/1933 - 8/31/2014 Art passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, 13 days after his 81st birthday, in Tucson, Arizona. He began his journey in Clay Center, Nebraska with his mother, Gladys and his father, Arthur Paul Alberding, Sr. After a stellar academic upbringing he attended Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney (now University of Nebraska) graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Education, and a wife, Glee. The Army knocked and he answered his country's call, leaving with a daughter, Kathy. While teaching high school math in Nebraska, another daughter, Cindy, was added. Art achieved a Masters of Arts degree from the State University of South Dakota after which he led the family to Tucson, where he gained a son, Jon and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Art's love of teaching first at Florence Union High School (Florence, Arizona) and later at Catalina High School (Tucson) and his love of Mathematics inspired him to become one of the founding instructors at Pima Community College remaining a Professor Emeritus after retirement. He enjoyed the company of his granddaughters, Meaghan and Brianne Wilson, and his son-in-law, Dave. Memorial Services will be at Christ Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Memorials and respects may be given to the Art Alberding Math Scholar Award, at Pima Community College, 4905 E.
