Hazel Yde

Hazel Yde 1907-2009. Hazel went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2009. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Niels and daughter, Kathleen. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Neala Bacon; granddaughter, Jerri Munn; and great-grandchildren, Shawn and Jeanette. She was born in Redwood Co., MN and was the oldest of 13 children. All of her siblings have preceded her in death except one sister. Hazel married Niels, her sweetheart of eight years in 1934. They worked as a team farming in MN until their move to a warmer climate, Tucson, due to Niels' declining health in 1945. They had a poultry ranch SW of "A" Mountain and later had to leave due to Niels' health. Hazel's youngest daughter contracted polio in 1949 so her life brought many more challenges. She was a devoted caregiver to her husband and daughter until their untimely deaths in 1989 and 1990. Hazel received many awards for community service and for her dedication to the Methodist church. A highlight in her life was in 1952 when she had the most winning entries (140) in the Pima Co. Fair. Hazel attributed her longevity to her loving family, keeping her mind and body active and following in the path of her Lord Jesus Christ. Visitation and services will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Services will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Family Care, 6300 E.
