Rev. K. Gordon Drescher

Rev. K. Gordon Drescher passed away peacefully on September 20, 2010 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born to Kenneth and May Drescher of Staten Island, New York on September 17, 1922. He spent his early years there and was graduated from Curtis High School. As a veteran of World War II, he had been assigned to educational courses in the service, completing all but one year of college credit. He finished his wartime assignments on the island of Attu in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. It was here that he received a calling to the Priesthood of the Episcopal Church. Father Drescher graduated from Hobart College in 1948 and was ordained to the Priesthood at General Theological Seminary in New York in 1951. He received his Master's Degree of Sacred Theology from New York Theological Seminary in 1973. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ellis and his sister, Doris Waldrop, both formerly of Staten Island, New York. Also surviving are his children, Kenneth of Athens, Georgia; Laurie of San Mateo, California; Susan of Tucson, Arizona and Karl of Fremont, California. He had seven beloved grandchildren. He was much loved by his extended family, the clergy and parishioners at St. Phillip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, his friends at Sun City and The Fountains, and by countless others. He will be remembered by his devotion to God and his selfless service to others. "Lord, you now have set your servant free, to go in peace, as You have promised." A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at St. Phillips in the Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson, AZ.
