June Lamb Obituary

ARTHUR - June passed away from a broken heart. She missed her husband, James Donald Lamb, of 65 years so much she decided to be with him for New Year's and dance the night away. June was born in Arthur, Illinois. Her father, Ernest Behen, was a factory worker at Progress and her mother was a great cook and housewife. She had an older sister, Ernetta Ohnesorge, who loved her and watched out for June, as she grew older. June graduated from Arthur High School and worked at Caterpillar in Decatur, Illinois during WWII doing bookkeeping. Following the war, she was a beauty operator in Arthur. June was an active member of the American Woman's Club of London and the Glenview Woman's Club. June was married to her high school sweet heart the summer of 1945. She and James lived in Chicago until moving to London in 1958 and then back to the Chicago area (Glenview) in 1964. Their lovely Daughter, Cheryl Ann, was born in 1948 and their Grandson, Brent Daniel Kaziny, MD, was born in 1977. In 2007 June and her husband moved from Chicago to Houston, Texas to be closer to her daughter and her husband, Daniel Kaziny. All who knew June, including Len and Ernetta Ohnesorge of Arthur, Chancey and Lynett Ball of Decatur, Brian, Heather, Charlotte and Brady Ball of White Heath, Ben and Jodi Egan of Erlanger, KY, as well as, Susan Jang of Salt Lake City, thought of her as the perfect Mother and Lady. Always loving, always there, always perfectly dressed. She did everything to perfection. All that are left behind will miss her smile and her butterscotch pie. We that loved her and now miss her take comfort in knowing that as she walks with God down the winding path to her new home, Jim (with a big smile) and the loved ones that have gone before, await her arrival with loving open arms. We will see you again someday. A simple service will be conducted at 11:30 AM Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 431 S. Vine Street, Arthur, with Rev. Leroy Allison officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to the University of Texas Medical School at Houston to support student scholarships. UTMSH – Student Scholarships P. O. June was the best great-aunt a kid could have ever asked for. Aunt June and Uncle Jim treated my sister and I as if we were their grandchildren. Despite two and a half hours between us, they attended every birthday, graduation, anniversry and as kids came to a great number of our school activities. Aunt June tricked me into liking strawberries by dipping them in powdered sugar. Her German chocolate cake was the only one I would eat, so much that she had to hide it from me in her chrome cake plate on top of the refrigerator. Once I was tall enough to reach, that was my first stop when visiting her home!

I still drive by their old Glenview home on occassion and remember the fond memories of my sister and cousin and I wrapping the white columns on the front porch with red ribbon and white lights every year after Thanksgiving dinner.

Rest in peace Aunt June, thank you for your love and hospitality for so many years.
