Sharon S. GERMAIN

Age 80 Passed away on July 27, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by husband, Richard Germain; and parents, LeRoy and Leona Swanson. She will be especially missed by siblings, Charles Swanson and Kathy (John) Watters; nieces and nephews, April (Jason) Rohow, John Watters, Mary Kunze, Amy Swanson, Courtney (Tyler) Belisle, Wally (Debbie) Germain; her cat, Dickens, and countless other family members and friends. Sharon was born in Osceola, WI to LeRoy and Leona Swanson. Her childhood years were spent in Dresser as well as the Andersen Scout Camp in Somerset, WI. After marrying, she lived joyfully beside her husband on their beautiful farm on the outskirts of Somerset. Dr. Germain graduated from Somerset HS in 1961, received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at UW-RF, and her PhD at the U of M. She was a dedicated educator and principal in the Stillwater School District, and served on the Somerset School Board for 15 years. Sharon was an adventurer. She loved to share her stories of skiing in the mountains, canoeing in the Boundary Waters and visiting countries around the globe. Sharon enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, dancing, golfing, volunteering, playing mahjong, camping, visiting the North Shore and going to restaurants. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. She had a zest for life that never waned. Sharon had the gift of seeing the best in people, and was always a source of encouragement. She left her fingerprints on the lives of so many. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater. Visitation 2-4 pm; Memorial service at 4 pm; reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset Public Library, and the Somerset Memorial Scholarship Fund. 651-439-5511
