James Moir Obituary

James Donald "Don" Moir 1920 -2010 After a short illness, Don Moir passed away Wednesday, April 28 peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Yuma, Arizona where he has resided for the past 16 years with his wife Winnie. Don served in the Canadian Army as an Instructor stationed in England during WWII from 1941-1945. After returning home to Canada, Don and his family immigrated to Ukiah, California in 1956 and spent many years employed by the NWP railroad and Masonite Corporation before purchasing Ukiah Paint and Pool Supply (now known as 'MOIR'S)... transforming it to one of Ukiah's most successful family owned business. As a result of his hard work, honesty and integrity, the business remains today owned and operated by the Moir family. During his years in Ukiah, Don was active in many service and business organizations and served as President and Deputy District Governor for the Redwood Empire Lions Club. He was one of the last remaining Charter Members. He also served in many different capacities in the Yuma Quartermaster Lions Club. Don was the perfect example of "Lionism" and received the highest honor possible in Lionism, the Melvin Jones Fellow for his dedication to public service. Promoting the "We Serve" attitude in every aspect of his life. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Winnie Moir of 16 years, sons Terry Moir (Doris)of Ukiah, Doug Moir (Rich) of Long Beach and daughter Judy Crellin (Tom) of Santa Rosa as well as grand- children Jeff Moir, Don Moir, Beau Crellin, Laine Crellin ...great grand- children Vincent Moir, Tonia Moir and Colin Moir, step sons, Greg McCord (Burton) of Lake Tahoe, John Glass and CT Glass (Carla) of Ukiah and grandchildren Todd, LaTonya, Tim, Chad, Cassidy, Hailey and Johnny all of Ukiah, brother Allen Moir of Ukiah, nieces and nephews in the US and Canada... as well as many wonderful friends in Northern California and the Foothills region of Yuma, AZ. Memorial services will be conducted Friday, May 7th at 2pm at Calvary Baptist Church. 465 Luce Ave, Ukiah, CA. Internment will be at Russian River Cemetery, Ukiah, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to either Lions Club International or the Cancer Society.

Dear Winnie,
Receive Kevin and my condolences and the lost of a wonderful man. I will never forget Don the way that he received me at every Lions meeting or any place that he saw me. He always show his love for people. He was a kind and wonderful man. I love to see you guys together you guys where a sample of the best marriage it was so funny to see you both driving the same kind of car. You guys were made for each others. I will miss to tell him how beautiful legs he had and the way he used to show them to me. You were so blessed to have a man like him by your side. We all going to miss him but I know that he will taking care of you from heaven. We love you Winnie. The Swearingin's

Condolences to Don's family! Moirs was two doors down from the BofA where I was VP/Mgr. We often greeted each other when we came to work. I found him to be a very friendly businessman and admired his concern and activities in Civic and Community affairs! May he Rest in Peace - he lived an active life!
