Carol Stacey Obituary

Carol A. Stacey-Currier, a former resident of North Reading, MA, passed peacefully at home in Londonderry, NH on the evening of February 11, 2022, with her loving husband Michael by her side, at the young age of 59.

Carol was born on March 11, 1962 in Everett, MA to Howard H. Stacey, Jr. and Janice E. Stacey (Noseworthy). She attended North Reading, MA public schools, excelling as an Honors student and member of the Marching Band and Drum Squad as well as a player on the Field Hockey Team. During her days in Junior and Senior High School she developed many friendships, including one that would prove to be an inseparable bond with her future husband, Michael Currier.

Carol received her continued education earning a B.A. at Bentley University in Accounting and a M.A. at Virginia Technical Institute, also in Accounting. Upon graduating from Bentley, she began her career in the Business and Finance field as an Auditor at prestigious firms in the Metro Boston area such as Price Waterhouse Coopers. She went on to excel in her field resulting in her esteemed role of Chief Accountant for U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Corporate Finance.

Her professional career concluded with the appointment to the position of Vice President at The SEC Institute, and then Division Director of the same. This last role led her to travel domestically and internationally, leading conferences and workshops with high-level professionals and accounting firms across the industry. Carol was well-known and respected as a professional and trusted advisor in her field.

In her private life, Carol loved spending time in her vegetable garden, playing the bongos and singing on her Church Worship Team, having church friends and others over for annual Church picnics at their Bedford, NH home, and having family over for cookouts on the deck.

She enjoyed collecting carousel horses, including two original wooden antiques from a working carousel that was dismantled, and numerous ceramic figures and music boxes from her family. She also was a devoted fan of her Boston sports teams, and her beloved Virginia Tech Hokies, but her devotion was with her favorite team, the Bruins. She also loved spending time relaxing at the lake with family and friends, enjoying the water and the camp atmosphere since childhood.

Carol leaves behind her husband, Michael; her parents Howard and Janice Stacey (Noseworthy); her sisters Barbara Doyle and predeceased husband Kevin Doyle and Sharon VanDell and ex-brother-in-law Jeffrey VanDell; her brother David Stacey and wife Peg Stacey; her ex-sister-in-law Deborah Campbell Stacey; her in-laws David F.
