Daniel Sullivan Obituary
He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, NH in 1956. There, he was a multi-sport athlete with his favorite sport being football. After a short time at UNH, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Following his discharge, he spent time in Washington DC where he joined the Police Department. In Washington, he met his beloved wife, Carol Ann. After marrying in 1965, the two moved back to Daniel's hometown to start their family. Daniel explored different jobs before choosing a career as an insurance adjuster.
Daniel was a devout Catholic and in addition to attending weekly mass, joined the Precious Blood Monastery's League of 1,000 men. Over the years he had different roles spending some time as an umpire, a coach and religious education teacher, but he was happiest at Rockingham Park where he shared his love of horse racing with his family and friends. He was equally happy at any location trying to win the big jackpot on a Crosswords scratch ticket. He also enjoyed time at the beach, conversing with colleagues and neighbors, and spending time at home either with his family or on his own exploring a wide range of interests.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Carol Ann, and his brother, James Sullivan.
He is survived by his sister Patricia L. MacFarlane, his children, Denise Sullivan of Manchester and Debra Dunham and her husband Arthur of Quincy, MA, and his grandson Martin Dunham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 31st at 11:00am at St. Francis Church in Litchfield. Interment to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester. A reception will be held for family and friends following the interment. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daniel's memory may be made to the Semper Fi & America's Fund (thefund.org).
