While I was only an aquaintance of Dr. Cataldo, my father, David Williams who passed in 2007, was extremely friendly with him and always spoke very highly of him as a doctor and as a friend. When my father and mother moved to Arizona from Cumberland, Maine, I will always remember my dad, on his visits back to New England, carving out time to pick up the phone and call his friend, Dr. Cataldo. They would talk regularly in this fashion. My dad had worked at Blue Cross and interacted with Dr. Cataldo on many occasions. My mom, Jean, was thrilled one day, after my dad had passed, to run into the Cataldo's at Commercial Street Fishery and she was able to underscore to Joe directly how much he meant to my dad over the years.
I remember him as a kind man with a gentle soul who always seemed genuinely pleased when I would acknowledge him and spend a few minutes with his family at the restaurant. I miss the restaurant and I miss those few times of idle - yet somehow very important - conversations with him. I thought I was doing it for my dad, but in the end I was doing it for me...because I enjoyed those moments in the footsteps of my father as he enjoyed those moments because Dr. Cataldo just made you feel that way...a little more important than you felt when you woke up that particular morning. Good Bye Joe. I am embarassed that the time slipped away and I did not attend your services to say these things first hand to your family. Mea culpa - I will say my prayers asking forgiveness. Have a great trip!

Joe was a true friend, colleague, patient, and hero. As difficult as it was to watch him fade, his vibrant and enthusiastic energy is the mainstay memory. As a Nam Vet, we had some enthralling discussions of the then and now political and personal issues of the VN war and his participation in the raid. I'm blessed that he gave me a signed copy ...RIP my friend

I worker with Dr. Joe at the DDS in Concord and always found him to be in good spirits, ready and willing to help, and a bit of a jokester. He had kind eyes and never met a stranger. Condolences to the family for their - and our - loss.

Joe charmed us all at DDS with his wit, his war stories and those of his vaudeville days. Ever quick with a smile, he always participated in the fun as well as sharing his knowledge as a consultant. He was remarkable for his persistence throughout his life it seemed, having served not only in all four military branches but also as a paratrooper. There is more one could say about Joe, but most of all, he truly cared. My deepest sympathy and understanding to his family.

He was also known as Candy Man at the office spoiling us all with a big bowl of candy every day. I'm very sad to hear of his passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Joe was a great man and a lovely person. Late in his career he was a medical consultant in the office where I work and he charmed all of us. He was missed when he retired. I am sad to hear of his passing. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family.
