Ralph D. Underwood

BEDFORD - Ralph D. Underwood, age 89, passed away unexpectedly at home with his loving family by his side on October 30, 2016.

He was born in Manchester, NH on July 27, 1927, a son of Ray M. and Marion A. (Curtis) Underwood. Ralph graduated from Manchester West High School, class of 1947. He was joined in marriage with Carolyn L. Jowders on October 20, 1957. Ralph was the owner of New England Antenna Service from 1949, retiring in 1990 and passing the family business on to two of his sons.

Ralph overcame his fear of flying by taking flying lessons, earning his pilot's license and purchasing a plane he flew throughout the United States. He enjoyed the outdoors: boating, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, motorcycling, traveling and camping.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn; five children, Bruce Spencer and his wife Diane, Kim Gordon, Gary Underwood and his wife Ann, Carl Underwood and his wife Laura, and Glen Underwood and his wife Sharon; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a sister, Shirley Wolfe. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Underwood Jr., and Robert Underwood.

SERVICES: Calling Hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon with the Funeral Service beginning at noon on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Goodwin Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 607 Chestnut Street, Manchester, NH. Burial will follow at Bedford Center Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
