Yvette Roberts Obituary

AUSTIN, Texas - Yvette Annette Marie Mailloux Roberts, 71, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at home after an extended illness. Yvette was born Nov. 5, 1941, to Frederick and Laurette Mailloux in Manchester, N.H., and was one of five children.

Yvette grew up in Manchester and graduated from St. George High School in 1960. Shortly thereafter, she met her husband, Phillip (Phil) Wayne Roberts Sr. while he was stationed at Grenier Air Force Base in Manchester, N.H. They were married on Dec. 30, 1961, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December, 2011.

Phil preceded Yvette in death just two months ago on Dec. 11, 2012.

Yvette was a proud resident of Austin, her adopted hometown of over 46 years. She had recently retired after a long career at SAS Institute. She was very fond of the company and the many friends and associates she had met there.

Yvette was also proud of her French-Canadian and New England heritage. She loved to regale family by speaking French, especially to her grandchildren.

Yvette was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and relentlessly doted on those she loved. More than anything, Yvette enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed her four grandchildren and delighted in their many accomplishments. She relished every moment with them and they adored her in return.

Yvette is survived by her son, Phillip Wayne Roberts Jr. and daughter-in-law, Shannon Lia Roberts, grandson, Jack Ryan Roberts and granddaughter, Katy Brooke Roberts, all of Alamo Heights; daughter, Michelle Roberts Schepcoff and granddaughters, Jacqueline Nicole Schepcoff and Natalie Rene Schepcoff, all of Houston; and son, Michael Richard Roberts of Austin.

Yvette is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Croteau of Raymond, N.H.; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marie Mailloux of Claremont, N.H.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a vast network of extended family and friends.

Yvette was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Laurette Mailloux; and brothers Raymond and Armand Mailloux.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Our cousin Jim Roberts spoke a number of times with your Mom during the time your Dad was ill--a trying time for all. Her calm voice is deeply missed. I pray God will comfort you in your time of sorrow.

Yvette will always be remembered and will live forever in the hearts of all of us who cared so very much about her. Yvette was the epitome of elegance and taste and a real "party planner" down to the last detail (think Michelle's wedding - cattle painted on wall at River Place). She especially loved choosing the cake! When flower arrangements would arrive at the front desk at SAS she "oohed and ahhed" as if they were for her! So whatever soothes your spirits, comforts your soul, and brings you peace at this difficult time - Bon Soir, Mon ami.

My thoughts are with you at this very sad time. Yvette and I were elementary and neiborhood friends. She was a kind and good quiet friend. Our friendship a different course once we got into high school. After graduation she married and I joined the Army. She made her home in TX and I live in Virginia. I hold good memories Yvette and hope you are in a better place. Doris Brisson Harmon

Many fond memories of working with Yvette at SAS. Her desk was right outside my office for many years. When anyone asked her for help, it was never someone else's job. She made sure each person got the help they wanted. Such a delight and so caring. I'm looking forward to seeing her again in heaven.

Wayne, Michelle and Michael: our thoughts are with you and the grandkids at the sudden loss of your mom especially after so recently losing your dad. They were a constant in the neighborhood - we were among the original homeowners on these two streets in Northview Hills.

Yvette was a great friend especially after we both retired from SAS Instititue. She would call to find out how we were doing health wise and we spent time talking about our favorite subject, our grandchildren. I always gave her hard time about how much time she spent in the malls getting her grandchildren gifts. I will miss her very much.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you during the loss of your mother. I know it has to be extremely difficult to lose both of your parents so close together but God gives comfort when you lean on Him. I worked for 21 years with your mother at SAS and we enjoyed visiting with each other through the years. Yvette made it known that she loved her children and grandchildren, and spoke of you often. Many blessings are sent to you at this time.
