Howard L. Worlock, 74, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, after a courageous nine month battle with a series of complications following surgery. He was born July 24, 1940, in Hudson, NY, the son of the late Beatrice Worlock Marsh. He was married to the former Barbara Thomas Bradigan. Howard was a veteran of the US Army. For over 30 years, he owned and operated Howie's Newsstand in the Oneida County Office Building in Utica. Previously, he worked at Kelsey Hayes and also owned Jet Diner. He was a Lifetime Member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the National Association of Blind Merchants. Howie was a diehard New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a very kind and generous man who always had time for anyone. Surviving besides his loving wife, Barbara, are two sons, Theodore (Virginia) Worlock and Paul (fiancee Laurie Dyer) Worlock, of Rome; one daughter, Erin (Kevin) Dundon, of Saratoga; three step-daughters, Lynne (Mohammed) Bradigan-Alshaman, of Rome, Diana Bradigan Malloni, of Alpharetta, GA, and Catherine (Alan) Bradigan Goetz, of Suwannee, GA; two sisters, Susan (William) Kahle, of Monroe, OH, and Tracy (Tom Secor) Zolna, of Rome; five brothers, David (Diane) Kent, of West Palm Beach, FL, Richard Marsh, of Rome, Dennis (Sherie Woodruff) Marsh, of Rome, Steven (Tina) Worlock, of Knoxville, TN, and Eugene (Annette Richards) Marsh, of Rising Sun, IN; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong best friend, Hank LaFlair, of Utica, and his family. He was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Marsh. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
