Irena Polkowski Obituary

Irena K. Polkowski

Irena K. Polkowski, 83, a resident of the Masonic Care Community died September 7, 2013, at the community.
She was born March 31, 1930, in Poland, daughter of the late John and Stefania Orszulak Morawiec. Irena worked as a nurse in Poland and came to the United States in September of 1964. She worked as a seamstress with Joseph & Feiss and as a nurse's aide.
Irena was a member of Holy Trinity Church.
She enjoyed the outdoors, travelling and family gatherings.
Irena is survived by two sons, to whom she was devoted, Joseph B. Polkowski, of Cromwell, CT, and Mark P., of Middletown, CT; a sister, Donna Kalies and her husband, David, of Sauquoit; and a brother, Gustaw Morawiec and his wife, Alicia, of Windsor, CT. She was predeceased by a sister, Janina Szponder, and three brothers, Mieczyslaw, Edward and Stanley Morawiec.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, and at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday (today) from 4-7 PM.
