John F.
Zuchowski
UTICA
Mr.
John F. Zuchowski, age 91, went home to be with his wife as he passed on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at the Masonic Care Community of NY. At the time of his passing, he was in the hearts of those who loved him. Born in Utica on August 31, 1923, John was the son of the late Julian and Eva (Siedlecki) Zuchowski. He was raised and educated locally and received his GED in 1968, which was a very accomplished moment in his life. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he honorably served his country during World War II stationed in the European Theater of Operations. On August 21, 1948, he married the former Marie A. DiSpirito; they were partners in life and enjoyed the love and precious moments of their 65 year union. Marie passed away on December 7, 2013. John was employed by the Horrocks-Ibbotson Company, and later at the UNIVAC Corporation, where he worked as a Foreman, and Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company, where he was a Plater, retiring in 1988. Lastly, John worked at the Masonic Care Community of NY in their maintenance department; this also gave him the opportunity to brighten the days of the many residents with his lightheartedness. John was an inspirational father, a good provider, and a wonderful caregiver. He shared a great closeness and friendship with his wife and always cared for her needs. They never forgot to tell each other I Love You. John lived a wholesome, respectable life and surrounded himself with good people. He was pleasant and never passed judgments. He honored family and friendships, and was a man of his word. His greatest joy was the blessing of his daughter. A gardener by nature, he took delight in the outdoors, and kept a meticulously manicured home. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where he supported parish life. John is survived by his adored daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and William Corrigan of Liverpool, NY; his grandchildren, Daniel and Lindsay Corrigan; and his great-grandchildren, twins Alyssa and Brooke. His extended family includes many nieces, especially acknowledging Reggie and Nick Lordi; nephews, with special mention of Raymond Niznik; great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; sister-in-law, Ann DiSpirito; and longtime friend, Robert Jonesy Jones. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Katherine Zuchowski, Stephen and Ann Zuchowski, Eddie Zuchowski and his wife, and Joseph and Ruth Zuchowski; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Zuchowski, Helen and Joe Mezzanini, Sally and Frank Siepietowski, and Mary Zuchowski; and his in-laws, Anthony DiSpirito, Rose and Melvin Krebs, Elvera Passaire DiTrinca, Julius Passaire, Tommasso DiTrinca, Theresa and Chester Niznik, and Anne and Peter Forlano. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the Masonic Care Community of NY, especially Malinda Vogel, Social Worker, and Becky Dean, Nurse Manager, as well as the entire staff of the Buffalo Unit. They were all so loving, caring and respectful of John. Visitation will be held on Thursday afternoon from 12:00-1:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. John's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 from the funeral home and at 2:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler. The family will also receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made in John's honor to the Abraham House in remembrance of Dr. A.L. Shaheen who was very close to the hearts of the Zuchowski family; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
