Joseph Mitura Obituary

Mr. Joseph A.
Mitura
HILTON HEAD, SC
Mr. Joseph A. Mitura, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his retirement home after a long illness. Born in Utica, NY on February 15, 1952, he was the son of his late parents, Joseph M. Mitura and Mafalda Del Mastro Mitura. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended MVCC. Always interested in business and an excellent salesman, Joseph worked as a manager for the State Street Mill, a retail concern, and as a principal sales representative for Norandex in Utica. He relocated to Rochester, NY where, for many years, he owned and operated JM Glass, one of the largest glass supply businesses in New York State. He was instrumental in supplying glass to local concerns such as the Utica School System and Hotel Utica. A likable man, Joe, also affectionately known as Too-Tall," made many friends in business and through golfing. He never married, but was the proud uncle of a niece and several nephews. He leaves behind his twin sister, Estherann Czyoski and her son, Tommy; his brother, Michael and wife, Janet, and their sons, Jason and Daniel; his sister, Teresa Decker and husband, Robert, and their children, Katie and Nicholas. A memorial service and interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Utica at a date to be announced.

Joe - been a while, wish we could have met while I lived in Rochester. You were a good friend, member of that Mary Street group, St. Agnes, Notre Dame- were some good times - if God needs a drummer to play "wipe out", Too Tall your the man. So many have gone now... Your smile and memory will last forever. My prayers go out to The Mitura family and Joe.

Mitura Family,

I was very sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved brother, brother-in-law and uncle, Joseph.

I attended MVCC with "Too Tall" and while I haven't seen him in years, I remember what a wonderful person and friend he was while I was associated with him albeit a short period of time.

I have added you and your family to my daily prayer list. And, when I attend mass next Sunday, I will add you and your family to our parish book of prayers.

May our Good Lord watch over, bless, protect, comfort and console you and your family as you endure this difficult, trying and sad time in your lives.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family in your time of loss and sorrow.

God Bless.

I grew up with Joe. He was a great friend. It's sad that we eventually parted ways but I will never forget him. We experienced so much together while growing up. Rest in peace Too Tall.
