Charles W. Maslin

Charles W. Maslin, of Williamsburg passed away on Monday, August 8 at WindsorMeade. Born in Port Chester, NY, he was the son of Walter and Dorothy Maslin. He and his wife, Joann, lived in Westfield, NJ until they retired to Yorkshire Dr. in Williamsburg in 1997. Mr. Maslin had a successful international manufacturing career with General Electric and The Singer Company. His work for General Electric in the late 1950s and early 1960s, contributed to the Polaris Missile program as well as the early space program. He graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, MA and Brown University where he was President of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and elected to the Brown Key. Commissioned in the United States Navy, he served on destroyers during the Korean War, earning the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Maslin was a member of the National Eagle Scout Association, the Williamsburg Shrine Club of Khedive Temple; a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4639, the American Legion, Post 39, a Williamsburg CERT volunteer, and served on the Williamsburg / Yorktown Council Board of Directors of the Navy League. He was a communicant of Bruton Parish Church, where he served two terms on the Outreach Grants Committee. He held an amateur radio license KB2TGQ and was a Master Gardener in New Jersey. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Joann Maslin, sons, Ted Maslin of Williamsburg; Maj. Richard Maslin, USAF (Ret.) and his wife Barbara, of Broken Arrow, OK, and their son John in Portland, OR; Jim Maslin, his wife Inger, son Finn and daughter Astrid of Annandale, VA; John Maslin, his wife Carole and daughter Julia of Bethesda, MD, and daughter, Betsy Spigarelli, and her husband Gary, son Sam and daughter Anna of Greensburg, PA. His sister, The Rev. Dorothy M. Field of Philadelphia, PA, predeceased him in 2021. A memorial service / reception is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2 pm at WindsorMeade, 3900 Windsor Hall Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23188 (757) 941-3600. Interment will be held at a later date in Wolfeboro, NH, overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee.
