Hector Benitez Obituary

Hector Benitez
WESLACO, TX.-
Hector Benitez, 87, passed away May 2, 2013 at his residence in Weslaco.
Hector was a pioneer in the movie theatre industry and a lifetime member of the Will Rogers Motion Pictures Pioneers Foundation. His wife of 64 years, Aurora, was always at his side working tirelessly with him. In most recent years, he enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of the film industry with his family.
His other passions included cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, going to Las Vegas and making his daily routine visits throughout Weslaco. Above all else, he loved chatting with his friends, the people of Weslaco.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Hector Carlos Benitez and Luis Benitez; and brothers, Reynaldo Benitez and Rene Benitez.
Survivors include his loving wife, Aurora Benitez; his sons, David (Matty) Benitez and Daniel Benitez; daughters, Dr. Diana Benitez, PhD., Dr. Rose Benitez, Ed.D., Linda Benitez and Laurie (Thom) King; a brother, Miguel Benitez Jr.; and sisters, Delia Rodriguez and Lupita Rico. Aurora and family, I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Benitez death. I remember going to the movies in town near my home. He would always greet us with a smile. I remember him coming to our store to buy tortillas and carnitas and barbacoa. Those were the good days. Aurora he will always be with all of you. He is now in the presence of the Lord where there is no more pain. May God give you peace in this time of grief.
