Earl B. Owen, 83, professor emeritus in language arts of Moorpark and Ventura Colleges, died in his home in Charlotte, N.C., on Feb. 26, 2008.
Mr. Owen, a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Infantry in the European Theater, was born in Johnston Co., Okla., on Dec. 6, 1924. In 1951 he married Marilyn Appling of Ventura.
After teaching in Alaska for seven years, he returned with his family to Ventura County, where he was one of the founding faculty of Moorpark College. He ended his teaching career at Ventura College, from which he retired in 1992.
Besides his wife, he leaves sons, Howard of San Mateo, Randy of Charlotte, N.C., and Ken of Santa Barbara, and several nieces and nephews.

My sympathy and love go to the whole Owen family.  Earl leaves most of us with very special memories.  He will be greatly missed.  I remember Earl as a man who loved life and loved literature, boats and adventure!  
My heart goes out to his loving and warm family!
