Oxnard, CA
Karen Sue Johnston, age 70, of Oxnard, California, passed away after a lengthy illness. She went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2017.
Karen was born to Ralph and Ernestine Evans on January 3rd, 1947 in Santa Monica, California. She grew up in Encino with her younger sisters. She married the love of her life, Dennis, and they settled in Reseda, California, where they raised their three children. Karen relocated to Oxnard, California 18 years ago to be closer to family and to prepare for her husband's retirement.
Karen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and adored her 9 grandchildren. Karen absolutely cherished holidays, family get-togethers, and any chance to spend time with her family. She especially loved her motor home camping trips with her husband. She was known for her good sense of humor and strong sense of family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband Dennis M. Johnston Sr. and her children Bob Johnston, Mike Johnston, and Cari Johnston-Kirk. Family and friends will gather at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura on Saturday, April 22 for a grave site funeral service at 10 a.m.

I'll never forget the first e-mail I got from Karen. She wanted all,the information she could get on the Evans family. After exchanging several e-mails, we just bonded. I'm so thankful that I finally got to meet her and I'll never forget the wonderful time I had. It was great meeting all the family that Karen had been telling me about. I already miss our e-mails and our long phone calls. I want all the family to know you are in my thoughts and prayers!
