Doreen Silvestri

DOREEN SILVESTRI 5/29/1928- 8/19/2014 Doreen Silvestri 86 of Victorville, CA, more recently of Ephraim, UT, passed away August 19, 2014 in Provo, UT. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 29, 1928 to Brace & Erma Disney Tyler. She lived in Los Angeles until she was 8 years old, when her family moved to Lucerne Valley, CA. They lived on a ranch and raised horses and cattle. During her senior year of high school, Doreen's family moved to Victorville, CA. That's where she met her future husband, Hugo "Hooks" Silvestri at a school dance. They were married on December 6, 1946, just months after her high school graduation. Doreen and Hugo loved to travel. They ventured all over the United States, Mexico, Canada. After Hugo passed away, she went to Russia and went on cruises to many more foreign countries. Some of Doreen's interests included watching all sports, fishing, sewing, quilting and music. She loved swimming and taught it for 25 years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in her later years served as a missionary for two and a half years at the Deseret Industries in Provo, UT. Survived by her children, Marie (Darrel) Ober, Ephraim, UT; Pauline Silvestri-Hoefer, Victorville, CA; Dorothy (Thomas) Heers, Hurricane, UT; Erma Myers, Apple Valley, CA; 17 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grand- children; siblings, Dennis (Joyce) Tyler, Sacramento, CA; Don (Nancy) Tyler, Reno, NV; Delda (William) Carter, Cleburne, TX; Dale (Boyd) Lake, Waddell, AZ. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Brace Guy Silvestri. Funeral services will be Saturday August 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Desert Knolls Ward LDS Chapel (15500 Tuscola Road) Apple Valley, CA 92307. Visitation from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Church. Interment in the Victor Valley Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Victor Valley Memorial Mortuary. Memorial service will be held Wednesday August 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephraim 1st Ward Chapel.
