THOMAS JERRY JORDAN

THOMAS JERRY JORDAN 11/26/1936-10/29/2014 Born on November 26, 1936 in Shady Grove, Arkansas to Christine and Willard Jordan, Jerry moved with his family to LaVerne, CA at the age of two. He continued to live in the LaVerne/Pomona area until his retirement. He attended LaVerne schools and graduated from Bonita High School in 1955. It was at Bonita that he met the love of his life and best friend, Belva Hickok, whom he married in 1956. Jerry leaves behind his wife of 58 years and their four children - Shannon Biggs (Steve), Stacey Phipps (Jim), Trevor Jordan (Marcelle), Devin Jordan (Debbie), 8 grand- children, and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Francis Jordan Sartain of Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. After high school, Jerry worked for L & M Lumber and Mercast before being hired at the Metropolitan Water District in 1958. After 35 years and several promotions, he retired from the District in 1993 as an O&M Supervisor I. For many years Jerry was involved with Ted Greene Little League in Pomona, LaVerne Little League, and both Pomona and LaVerne AYSO soccer programs. After his retirement, Jerry and Belva relocated to Kingman, AZ where he re-stored his 1956 Ford F150 pick up that has been in the family since purchased new by his predeceased brother, Joe Jordan. Jerry and Belva spent the next 21 years going to hotrod shows with both new friends and old high school friends. Jerry bought his 1965 green El Camino in 2005 and Jerry and Belva continued traveling to shows in CA, AZ, NV, and CO winning many awards. Jerry and Belva moved back to California in 2003, once again making the Inland Empire their home. Jerry Jordan passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2014, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Thank you Dr. John Hawes and VNA Hospice for the compassionate and professional care you provided him. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, 11/4 at 1 o'clock at the LaVerne Cemetery, 3201 N. B Street, LaVerne, CA. Hotrods and classic cars were a big part of Jerry's life from high school until his passing.
