So sorry to hear Waylon passed away
You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.

I grew up with Waylon and he was my best friend throughout high school and into college. The memories I hold closest are too tender to share right now.
He was one of the most decent men I have ever known, and he always found the good in everyone and in every situation. Even though I was a year older, I was always the one who wanted to right a wrong by striking back. But from Waylon I learned patience, kindness and practical application of the Golden Rule.
Waylon was a Christian and he loved his God. I know because we were in the same youth group at Memorial Baptist Church, and we had many private conversations about our own personal conversion experiences. The things he learned from Brother Myers served Waylon well in a life well-lived.
In Missouri, Waylon attended church regularly. During the last six or eight weeks, he talked about things he needed to get done in the church. Cora told me that he was able to go back to his Sunday School class three weeks ago and teach a lesson.
He approached this disease with all the courage I had always associated with him. He didn't want to die, but he trusted in God's will. He loved his family and he loved his friends.
I know where Waylon is today, and I know that some day I'll see him again. Until then, I'll keep all the best memories of Waylon in my heart and the lessons of his life have become solutions in my own.
He was a good friend. He was a rock. Even though we were separated by a thousand miles and many years, I'll miss him.

I am so sorry to hear of Waylon's passing. We were classmates in McLennan Community College's first graduating class in 1967 of 12. We were a unique group and help establish many of the traditions at MCC. I keep the picture of the 12 of us in my office to this day. He is part of our history and will missed.
