Virginia Fanara Obituary
Virginia "Ginny" Louise (Orifice) Fanara, of Waltham, died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 83. Born and raised in Waltham to the late Sarah (Allia) and Antonio Orifice, she was a lifelong resident of Waltham. Ginny was a graduate of Waltham High School, Middlesex Community College and Youville Hospital School of Practical Nursing where she received a highest scholastic achievement award. She was employed at Raytheon and Foster Miller engineering, Fernald State School and Veterans Hospital in Bedford from where she retired. She was a volunteer at the Council on Aging. Her hobbies included dancing with her husband at Nuttings on the Charles and traveling where she had the opportunity to walk the way of the cross following the footsteps of Jesus on his way to Calvary. She was the loving wife of 47 years to the late Joseph L. Fanara. She is survived by her brother Salvatore and his wife Ann (Merry) Orifice, her sister Margaret Venuti, and her brother-in-law Robert McIssac all of Wakefield, her sister Lena and Alfred Lamore of Hudson, and her sister Marion Anthony of Gloucester, her sisters and brothers-in-law Santina Wunderman, Santo and his wife Theresa, Charles and his wife Nancy, Angelo and his wife Sharon, Annette and her husband James Smith, Angelina and her husband Thomas and many nieces nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Santo and Mary (Ruotolo), Sebastian and Mary (Tortorella), Philip and Geraldine (Gatti), Luigi and Delia (Godino) and her sisters Rose (Vallucci) Violette and her husbands, Adeline Compardy and her husband Anthony, Frances Giordano and Thomas, and Jeannette McIsaac, her sister-in-law Angelina (Defino) Orifice, and her brother-in-law Thomas Venuti. Ginny was the daughter-in-law of the late Antonina (Salamone) and Raymond Fanara and sister-in-law of the late Josephine McArthur, Marie Bucci and her husband Joseph, and Carmella Roe and her husband Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial 773, Moody St., WALTHAM, Tuesday, May 12 at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Ginny's life at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Rd., Waltham. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
